Very good website with lots of information. The plant database can find most plants by common or latin names, and provides good information on cultivation, habitat and recommended planting.
Royal Horticultural Society
RHS has lots of good planting advice for gardens in the British climate. Information can be hard to find from the main page, but the search box is very effective and helpful.
They also sell bulbs and seeds mail order from a sister website. Although sometimes slightly expensive, the quality is always top notch and the profits help fund charitable work.
